PEAK DISTRICT CAR ASSISTED CLUBRUN
For any members interested in the Peak District car assisted clubrun on Saturday April 28th, the person to contact is Mick Holliday on 01327 350498, as per the last newsletter. The plan is to arrange car sharing and leave from the clubrooms or people can go directly to the start of the ride. So, we meet at the clubrooms at 7.30am. and drive to the car park at the southern end of the Tissington Trail cycleway which is on Mapleton Road (Some websites/maps say Lane), which is about half a mile west of the centre of Ashbourne. There may be car parking charges here. The ride will depart at 9.30am.
The ride will go north to Parsley Hay on the Trail, visit Arbor Low stone circle – not quite Stonehenge but worth a visit - and then drop into Hartington for a cafĂ© stop. The Manifold Way will be picked up at Hulme End and taken to its southern end at Waterhouses. We will then do a few not too serious hills to Ilam Hall and back to the car park. All this can be googled so you can see where the route goes. The distance will be around 35 miles. If there are sufficient numbers a second ride could go up into the hills of which there are many! Make sure you have the usual things with you – waterproofs, spare inner tubes, a few bars and drink.
If you can and are prepared to car share, please let me know. Sue and I can take another person and at least one bike possibly two.
Mick.
