Battle of Edge Hill (Well from a cyclists point of view)

Last Saturday’s leisure ride, saw 13 riders, cycle from Middleton Cheney to Edge Hill. The weather was fantastic, bear in mind that it was 22nd Oct, with the temperature around 15degrees and visibility near on perfect. The ride commenced at MC and took in a number of villages in between. Chacombe, Cropedy, Mollington, Warmington and then Edge Hill.
Outbound from Middleton is very picturesque, however, can be pretty tough with a number of hills on the way.
The climb between Cropedy and Mollington is a long steady ride for approximately 2 miles. Knowing we were returning the same route, it was good to know that it would be down hill all the way.
After cycling through Mollington, Warmington and Alescote, we approached Edge Hill at mid point. Mid point is not easy, and understand it was recorded at 25degree climb, however it was safe to say, and we made it ! Phew
A Short ride from the top, we stop at that viewing point across Warwickshire, with the weather and visibility so good, the viewing was fantastic.
After a well deserved stop at the Herb Centre for tea and cake, the home bound ride, was predominately downhill, and we arrived back at Middleton Cheney around 13:00.
New comers Keith and Tessa on their Tandem (Co-motion), Ii hope enjoyed the ride, and didn’t scare them off coming back to the club and enjoy more HILLLLLLL rides, around south northants.
A picture of the joyous group at the top of edge hill –“Standing i might point out” shows we won the battle, conquer, or simply just made it!!! of Edge Hill...
Lets hope we can repeat this feat next year.
