Club runs 15 th Oct. 2011
A glorious autumn morning with the first touch of frost. The sun was shining, promising a later rise in temperature, which started the old question of what to wear for the two anticipated changes of temperature during the day. 23 members were present and with a welcome to three first time visitors; Tessa, Jonathan and David Cox, were ready to head off out. Mick H., took the standard ride out with 12 riders to the cafe at Salcey Forest covering 27 miles. Ian E., took the faster ride out with 6 riders covering about 54 miles and Craig H., took the longer ride of 8 riders out to the cafe at Harrold Country Park. On this ride Peter W., was trying out his new acquisition, a carbon Pinarello. Harry W., was out on Dad's former bike, a Cinelli for the first time and Mike P., was extending his distance ridden with his first club 50 + mile ride. At the cafe we decided to take a different way home than the usual uphill against the wind climb from Harrold to Lavendon. See the Garmin download from Martin S. for the out and return route please. Martin left us near Stoke Bruerne to head home to Bugbrooke which explains the northern spur to Bugbrooke on the map. Home at about 3pm with the sun still shining and no punctures. Congratulations to Mike P on completing (enjoying?) the run and still having the energy to lead us back down the race course hill into Towcester.
