Clubrun 14th August
This Saturday’s clubrun saw eight members and one guest heading south towards Paulerspury and Deanshanger. The morning was rather grey with the threat of rain. Sure enough after about half an hour we had the first of several showers. By way of a change we took the cycle way to Old Stratford and after turning right at the traffic lights we used the Ouse Valley Way to avoid the busy road to Stony Stratford and Wolverton. We rode down to the canal where it passes under the Old Wolverton Road. A brief stop was made at the Iron Trunk Aqueduct to admire the engineering involved in its construction. It celebrates its 200 years next year having finally opened for canal traffic on 22nd January 1811. A little bit of mild ‘roughstuff ’ along the towpath brought us to Cosgrove. On to Castlethorpe, Hanslope and the cafĂ© at Salcey Forest for the obligatory tea and cake or whatever people chose. From here those members who live near Northampton headed home while the other members returned to Towcester via Hartwell, Ashton, Stoke Bruerne and Shutlanger. Hope you enjoyed the ride Juliette and we see you again soon. Mick
