Towcester Southern Extension Relief road/Bypass

Have just returned from the Persimmon and Bloor Homes presentation of the proposed development of 2,750 homes to the south of Towcester. Setting aside the homes, schools, industry and other infrastucture, of concern is the relief road between the A5 just south of the Heathencote turn and the A43 just south of the MacDonalds/Abthorpe road roundabout. This stretch of road will have five roundabouts on it. This will mean that Towcester could end up with seven roundabouts encircling it and only one with any form of safe crossing for cyclists ie the one that is already there! The vital, to cyclists, Wood Burcote Road will have one of these roundabouts and no provision for cyclists. Also of concern is the major junction of the existing A5, relief road and the Whittlebury Road. Although still in the planning/consultation phase, unless our voice is heard they probably wont make provision for cyclists. I urge those that can to try and get to other presentations on the following days.
Friday 02/12 2pm to 8pm and Saturday 03/12 10am to 4pm at Towcester Centre for Leisure Springfields NN12 6UW
and Monday 05/12 2pm to 7pm and Tuesday 06/12 2pm to 8pm at Chantry House Chantry Lane Towcester NN12 6YY.
Ask for Mr Clive Patmore or Mr Chamberlain.
